Sunshine Coast

  • Photos

The Sunshine Coast's golden beaches stretch for over 65 kilometres, broken only by an occasional headland or the clear waters of a river estuary. But there is more to the region than its stunning sands. Secluded coves, rainforests, waterfalls and quaint mountain villages, all set within a dramatic landscape of beaches, sugar and pineapple farms and bold volcanic peaks. There is so much to explore within this regions of the Great Sunshine Way.

Coastal Towns

Coastal townships like Caloundra, Mooloolaba, Maroochydore, Coolum and Noosa are synonymous with the traditional Australian beach holiday. Offering a heady mix of beaches, restaurants, boutique shops, night clubs, parkland and a variety of accommodation styles, these towns provide the perfect holiday, whatever your style.

Hinterland

  • Beyond the rolling surf and the resort towns lies a Sunshine Coast hinterland of lush green landscapes.
  • Historic towns and villages, natural treasures within national parks, pristine lakes and waterfalls and an enticing mix of rustic charms and country-style.
  • Indulge in some country hospitality in cosy B&Bs, rustic cabins and stylish retreats.
  • Eumundi Market is Australia's biggest and best art, craft and produce market, held every Saturday and Wednesday in the heart of the charming historic town of Eumundi.
The market motto ‘Make it, bake it, grow it or sew it’ is passionately observed by dozens of farms, producers, artisans and craftspeople who set up their stalls at first light under the shade of the massive fig trees.
  • Begin your discoveries of the national parks, the gallery trails, restaurants, wineries, inviting country pubs, fresh local produce, shops and markets - all within a glorious green landscape, just a short drive from the coast. It's a taste of the good life.
  • Towns such as Montville, Mapleton, Flaxton and Maleny offer art galleries, wineries, country markets, fabulous food, pristine national parks and spectacular views.

Food & Wine

  • Noosa is a famous cuisine hub with Hastings Street and Gympie Terrace the main eat streets, featuring al fresco restaurants and cafes with water views, delicatessen, bars and ice creameries.
  • The burgeoning Sunshine Coast Hinterland is becoming the food lovers' destination of choice with Montville and Maleny boasting charming eateries, award-winning restaurants and highly acclaimed cooking schools.
  • The pursuit of fabulous food is high on the agenda on a Sunshine Coast holiday. Always fresh, often organic, it’s a relaxed, local cuisine.
